Alla Perlin was born April 7, 1939 in Leningrad Russia. She was the first child born to Olga and husband Michael. Several years later her brother Leon was born. Alla had a wonderful childhood filled with friends and family always surrounding her. She would finish school and attend college to complete her dental technician degree and later changed careers to cosmetology which was her real passion. She would later master this craft. She met her future husband Arkadi Perlin in 1968. In 1974, her family, now consisting of two sons, Greg and Ilya and husband Arkadi, migrated to the United States in search of a better life for their children. The family settled in Brooklyn, New York. Alla attended classes to obtain a cosmetology license which she received in 1975. The family would soon move to Queens New York where they would eventually settle down. Looking to continue her career as a cosmetician, Alla got a job at a well known salon in New York city called Mario Badescu Skin Care. She soon became one of the busiest cosmeticians in Manhattan. The average wait for an appointment with her was between 3 and 4 weeks. Her client list read like the who's who in show business with stars like Cher, Paul Simon, Bette Midler, Michael J. Fox, Kelly Lebrock, Naomi Cambell, Steven Seagall, Ellen Barkin and a host of other A listers that loved her services. Anyone ever touched by Alla both physically and emotionally had only the kindest of words to express about her. Her graceful and gentle manor in which she carried herself will always be remembered and missed by many. A loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, aunt and exceptional woman in all aspects of humanity. She was truly one of a kind and her spirit continues to live in every soul she touched. November 13, 2010 marks the 5th year of her passing.
